The Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare patch 1.7 has been released already! It addresses some pretty important issues:

    * Fixed an exploit that allowed players to access certain console dvars during multi-player matches.
* Fixed a crash that could occur when a Chinatown Sabotage match would go into over-time.
* Fixed a bug where the MP icons (Bomb, Defend, Capture, etc) were always showing up as English regardless of the install language.

Important: this patch is incremental. That means it requires patch 1.6 for those of you upgrading from a fresh install.

McFarlane Toys announces a partnership with Activision to produce action figures for the upcoming video game, Call of Duty®: World at War. The line is expected to hit store shelves in fall 2008, and retail for around $10- $15.

Developed by Treyarch and built using the Call of Duty® 4: Modern Warfare™ engine, Call of Duty: World at War thrusts players into the chaos of WWII combat, challenging them to band together to survive the climactic battles of the South Pacific and European theaters that led to the demise of the Axis powers. Re-defining WWII by offering an uncensored experience with unique enemies and combat tactics, Call of Duty: World at War offers cooperative gameplay, a franchise first which enables players to fight together like never before.

McFarlane Toys’ first series of highly detailed, game-accurate Call of Duty: World at War action figures will consist of four soldiers:

• MARINE CORPS WITH FLAMETHROWER, Battle of Peleliu - Includes M2-2 flamethrower with removable flame, and M1911A1 pistol & holster
• MARINE INFANTRY, Battle of Peleliu - Includes M1 Garand rifle and M1 bayonet
• MARINE CORPS WITH MACHINE GUN, Battle of Okinawa - Includes M-1928A1 machine gun w/20 round magazine and M1911A1 pistol & holster
• BRITISH SPECIAL OPS, Battle for the Roer Triangle - Includes Mark II Sten gun

Apparently there has been some confusion in the online gamer reporting circuit since last Friday, Activision CEO Bobby Kotick during a post-earnings release conference announced a new Call of Duty title. Now most of us who have known about CoD5 being in the works by Treyarch knew it had a release date this fall and thought this was old news. That is until we did a double take on Mr. Kotick’s statement and noted the reported release date. It was 2009!

But have no fear CoD fans, CoD5 World at War is not being delayed. What Mr. Kotick was referring to is the 2009 release of yet another CoD title to be developed by Infinity Ward. Bigdownload.com reported on the mix up earlier but wired gaming posted a good article (though it seems unintentionally) clearing this all up. Kotick went on to say that the franchise will continue to “leapfrog” between developers, suggesting that the 2009 title will be coming from Call of Duty 4 developer Infinity Ward.

ModernRcon v0.7 is finally here after 4 long months of inactivity… As with v0.6, this version isn’t exactly what it was planned to be; but there is good reason. If you recall, I had planned v0.7 to include Auto-kick features for real-time chat monitoring. Unfortunately, there were complications.

I could give you all the technical reasons why it couldn’t happen, but it really just boiled down to the nature of the RCON protocol, PBUCON protocol, and the CoD4 game. Since anybody can change their name to mimic another, it was a security nightmare. Furthermore, PBUCON does not send GUID’s with chat messages, so short of streaming the log file, it would not be hard for someone to get another person banned by changing to his name real quick.

So instead, v0.7 has the Config Builder! This allows you to capture the state of your CoD4 server and save it to a *.cfg file on your computer for uploading to your game server for future use.

Version 0.7 Changes:

* New Map-Pack maps included!
* Config Builder tool!
* Players with negative score will now show in the list (always).
* Infinite loading bar issues resolved.
* More… See README for full list!
