Apparently there has been some confusion in the online gamer reporting circuit since last Friday, Activision CEO Bobby Kotick during a post-earnings release conference announced a new Call of Duty title. Now most of us who have known about CoD5 being in the works by Treyarch knew it had a release date this fall and thought this was old news. That is until we did a double take on Mr. Kotick’s statement and noted the reported release date. It was 2009!
But have no fear CoD fans, CoD5 World at War is not being delayed. What Mr. Kotick was referring to is the 2009 release of yet another CoD title to be developed by Infinity Ward. Bigdownload.com reported on the mix up earlier but wired gaming posted a good article (though it seems unintentionally) clearing this all up. Kotick went on to say that the franchise will continue to “leapfrog” between developers, suggesting that the 2009 title will be coming from Call of Duty 4 developer Infinity Ward.
